The Scanner Unit
The Biomest Scanner Frame is submerged in the pen. As a fish swims through the frame it interrupts a net of infra red light beams, the captured silhouette image of the fish is used to calculate its size. Accurate measurements are obtained with minimum effort and without any stress or injury to the fish. Although good measurements can be obtained in a few hours; generally, the frame is left suspended in the pen for 12 - 24 hours; up to 5,000 fish can be measured depending on local conditions.
The Display Unit
As each fish is measured by the frame, data on its weight and condition factor appear on the Display Unit (DU). The number of fish and the average weight is also displayed. The data held in the display unit can be downloaded into the handheld unit or directly from the DU into any PC loaded with the Biomest software.

The Biomest handheld
The handheld unit contains Biomest CE a mini version of the PC software and is used to download the data from the display unit via Bluetooth wireless connection. The handheld can download data from multiple display units and allow the user to view the size distribution and sample data instantly. The files can be later transferred from the handheld unit into any PC with the full Biomest program.
