Two of VAKI‘s staff, Benni and Gulli went on a successful Riverwatcher seminar in Sacramento CA.
They held an informative presentation for customers and other interested participants on new developments in the Riverwatcher product. The focus was on the latest infra red camera technology used to count fish in rivers, this increases the valuable data sampling and thereby gives better fisheries management. The digital photos can be used with other data from the Riverwatcher to sort the fish in groups according to species, sex and even in farmed or wild fish.
Mats Hebrand from Fiskevårdsteknik in Sweden presented his findings and experience using the Riverwatcher in many rivers in Sweden, Norway and Germany. Ryan Cuthbert presented how they have used the Riverwatcher in Stanislaw and Toulumne Rivers and Ryan Greathouse showed some pictures from Yuba River. Everything went well and the participants were fascinated with the new development and the detailed identification of species, sex, etc of individual fish from the high quality digital images.

Furthermore did Benni and Gulli meet with Doug Demko and Ryan Cuthbert from Fishbio to show them how the Riverwatcher could help them in their production.
The seminar ended with field trips to the Yuba River and the Stanislaw and Tuolumne Rivers to look at fish ladders with a 12V Riverwatchers, fish counter and digital camera system operated by solar power.
